Many of our youth in highly stressed urban areas have had their character, values and perceptions shaped by war-zone like neighborhoods and a mass culture that glorifies violence, drugs, and materialism.

In offering the Soul Journey Program, we recognizes that helping our young people turn their lives around also means working to restore the power of their families and communities to support them. 

 

Youth are encouraged to examine the consequences of their choices and actions on others, themselves, and their community. In practicing Restorative Justice, Soul Journey helps to create among both youth and adults the value and power of communal norms and responsibility. All Soul Journey sessions begin with centering activities and a covenant of principles. This establishes an environment conducive to introspection, self discovery and mutual learning.
